Not if you aren't hesitant to pull the trigger. And we have very different opinions regarding possessions and assuming the police will, in fact, "sort it out".
It isn't a matter of being willing to pull the trigger. Real life isn't a old western where 2 people draw, only one can get off a shot and the other drops instantly. Even if you are willing to fire, and even if you manage to hit your target, there is still a very good chance you will get shot if the other person has a gun. If you cooperate the person is less likely to fire so you are less likely to get shot. This is a big part of why studies have shown gun owners are 4 to 5 times more likely to be shot. If a street mugging where the their is likely to have his gun drawn, odds are you will never have a chance to pull it in the first place.
And when I say let the police sort it out, I am not at all concerned with how successful they are. Things can be replaced. My life can not. So I am going to cooperate and live.
After reading that he'd gladly let someone enter his home, mug him, take what they want and let the police sort it out I just laughed and gave up on any intelligent debate.
I think you are the one being naive if you honestly think you are more likely to survive a mugging unharmed by pulling out a gun rather than just giving the person your wallet. This is the reason studies have shown that you are 4 to 5 times more likely to get shot if you carry a gun. Hell the only thing in my wallet is bank and credit cards I am just going to cancel anyway. You think those are worth risking dying for?
I was a police officer myself for 5 years. In my experience people who don't fight live, and no object is worth dying for.
Gun control, do we need more of it?

Yes I would because I value my life above any possessions. If you feel otherwise, you may want to reevaluate your priorities.

If you are just going to sling insults rather than form thoughts worth expressing, then yea, you have a great day too.
