Guinea pigs

A partner and I did a wrong doing and I figured what better place to rant about life's woes than on a website I can't be traced back on? Our "wrong doing" apparently was by becoming the owners of Guinea pigs. 4 of them to be exact. I suppose that I am the owner of them really, as I bought them. I take care of them but my partner takes care of them (sometimes) as well. He got the most of the blame when our landlord decided to take back a statement he made earlier on his policy to do with pets. He said that he was ok with dogs but didn't want for us to have Guinea pigs in the house and essentially he evicted us. I'm just wondering what the heck is every landlords problem with Guinea pigs for pets being kept indoors? I am only doing what I can to do right by the Guinea pigs. They are fragile animals and for them to expect that we keep guinea pigs outside is dangerous and would be a careless thing to do. Why the stigma around Guinea pigs? I've been looking for a new place to rent and mostly everyone says " no pets". The ones that do have specific rules and basically they would rather a cat or dog over guinea pigs! Guinea pigs arent as loud as a dog. They dont just wander everywhere like a cat might do. They only have problems with thinking they are smelly and unhygienic. I don't know of what type of people that they had in there before to make them think that, if that's the case. Guinea pigs are clean animals and it's entirely up to the owner's care and responsibility to keep their cages clean. And I clean ours frequently and there is no smells or cockroaches . I guess I just wanted a place to rant in peace over how unfair it is for our last landlord to say pets are ok and then he took back his statement and now we have nowhere to go. We just live at family members house.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

That stinks. I don't think caged animals should be an issue, but it is someone else's house and you have to go by their rules. None of my previous landlords had an issue when I had ferrets, but one did refer to them as rodents. That bugged me so I to correct them.

Guinea pigs are rodents. Rodents can be very destructive and are seen as rats. Its bloody stupid. I love rabbits but landlords hate them. When in 4eality they dont actually know anything about them.

Most landlords are cool with small dogs but not big ones wich is hilarious cause it's the small ones that will fuck your home up. A nog one might just destroy your couch wear as a little one will destroy everything

Fuck landlords. But yeah, you took a risk knowing you could get caught and you did. Now 4 animals are keeping you and your dude from having a place.

Yeah, this is really odd. Perhaps they think they will nibble the walls or something?

How'd they catch you? Don't you know to never let a landlord in your apartment without a warrant?

    • They have routinely visits Allowed it was in the contract they give us 24 hour notice but if we refuse we could get in trouble and it's hard to hide them for each visit

Yeah, I'd never live in a place like that.
