  • I think olderdude is right about those personal information sites being mostly scams, not to mention they're often inaccurate. They have me incorrectly listed as a male, and list a phone number I've never even heard of as mine, along with an address in a state I've never visited as a previous address.

    Besides, I really don't think many people are interested enough in average people to pay for their personal information. Even employers don't do that, as it's a waste of money when the stuff they need to know is public info.

    As for your activity being tracked online, I admittedly don't know much about that kind of stuff and maybe I'm being naive, but I don't think many people, including the government, care enough to really look at that stuff unless you're doing something highly illegal. Going through everyone's Web history would require an insane amount of time and people, and would be pointless. You know how many people watch porn and look up weird stuff online? That's probably very vanilla stuff to anyone whose job is to look into people's Internet history.
