Good investment for an economic recession

I am convinced we (USA) are gonna hit a bad recession here soon. Interest rates have been low too long, we have been paying stimulus money out but the money is not coming in so the FED is just printing money rn, also other political policies that I think will negatively effect it. I'm interested in buying stocks but warren buffets advice of be greedy when people are cautious and catious when ppl are greedy comes to mind. Everyone is investing rn but I really think a recession is coming. Is there any good thing to invest in that will take off if there is a recession? The only thing that comes to mind is gold and silver. Bitcoin is iffy.

We are already in a recession. The real question is whether inflation will return. If so, high dividend stocks, and tangible assets like real estate are good investments. Gold works (GLD) but pays no dividends.

I'm investing 20% in Utility ETFs. Ticker: XLU. They pay high dividends. Real estate investment trusts (REITs) may be worth looking at. Health care (XLV) and biotech (XBI) may be worth owning for diversification. But in the long run, hardly anything beats the good old S&P500 (SPY). I always have at least 50% of my money in that. It's a wild ride; just buckle up. You're in it for the long term.

I got money in SPY. I worry healthcare stocks may do poorly because of universal healthcare talks. Not saying universal healthcare is bad but it will cause price controls which will lower profits and stock prices.

I think you're right. But, if the healthcare political rhetoric does nothing, profits will continue. The controversy will lower the price for a good entry point. Don't buy yet. Maybe split a modest 15% between health care and biotech in a few months if the price breaks a downward sloping resistance line.

Jim Cramer probably knows what to do. I have only a measly $1.9M. Financially, I am a mere cockroach compared to the privileged 1%.

Do you know of any good automation ETFs? I bet that will do good in the future.

Robotics and AI are loosely correlated. Here are some ETFs to check out

            ROBO - a robotics index

ARKQ, LOUP, IRBO - an AI index

Read up carefully on Google Finance. Pay attention to the annual fee. These funds may be thinly traded. Be sure to use limit orders.

Invest in gold and silver? Pull out of all stocks? Keep money under the mattress?

Yeah but money losses value doesnt it? In 10 years that money will be worth less if kept as cash.

Well minor inflation is what a normal goverment does to incentivize buying other valued commodities rather than hoard the cash itself.

I dont think the usd will crash but keeping a small pile of gold or silver doesnt hurt since gold and silver have a globally recognized value.

I noticed when the 2008 crash happened gold and silver sky rocketed. I wonder if thats normal for recessions.

Pretty normal for any crash in currency for any culture. Gold and silver were used to back our money before. As well as it is normal for a goverment to have hard gold bars locked away. Fort Knox is a prime example.
