Never have, but I'd probably try that too. Why not? Oh right, I forgot. Eating cow, pig, and chicken is totally moral and normal, but eating dogs and cats like those Chinese savages? Crazy!
Okay, I'm being an asshole now. Sorry. But I never really understood how people could take a bite out of a hot dog and then grimace at the idea of eating dog meat. I assure you, the shit that goes into a hot dog is MUCH more disgusting.
South Park hit the nail on the head with that episode about how much Japan slaughter whales and dolphins. By the end, they manage to convince the Japanese to slaughter chickens and cows instead, and Randy says "good job son. Now the Japanese are normal, like us."
I think it's a mixture of xenophobia and the cuteness/familiarity factor of dogs and cats. Though seeing an adorable baby piglet could persuade anyone to stop eating pork.
Because, human's, especially western humans, have boundaries. With exceptions, cat's and dog's are our pets. They are what we love, and are part of our family (I hope you wouldn't eat your mother, but i'm not certain anything would stop you).
Cat's are our family, but cows are animals, they aren't let into the common home and they aren't house pets. Pig's aren't either. We have a sort of psychological separation of the two. Just like when you see someone you love (If you have the ability to love) you greet them kindly and embrace them, and when you see someone you hate you avoid them (or in your case eat them, unless that's how you show affection).
Sure, both people are human, yet you avoid one and treat the other one kindly. If you prefer dark chocolate over white chocolate, they are both fundamentally the same, yet you prefer one over the other, you like cherries but hate apples, the same thing, yet you don't touch the other. These are all examples of psychological boundaries, it's what gives us a personality. You will see these boundaries effect you on every single level. (rather you prefer a certain genre of movie, certain type of food, even a certain type of persone, i.e more serious or more satirical).
They are perfectly acceptable and almost used unconsciously, and they keep things in perfect order. You don't mention where they work 'against' your cannibalistic rationalization, yet you use relativity on the subject instead. By that i mean you rationalize it, you make it okay.
I was going to give you a real answer to your comments, until I re-read the first sentence of this one. Beside the grammatical errors, the "especially western humans" remark is something that pretty much nullifies you as a credible person.
That, to me, is much more disgusting than the idea that someone might eat dog, or consider tasting consented human meat. So when I go on the cannibalistic rampage that you apparently think I'm on the verge of, you best be warned that I'm eating you first.
I can't believe people think that you are about to go zombie om-nomming on people. Seems you can't even ask a provoking question these days. As for my answer, while I'm not the biggest fan of meat to begin with, I can understand your points.
I would be curious but as to whether or not I could actually do something like that... I think I probably couldn't. I'd break mentally if I tried.
Yeah, I don't imagine that it would taste very good. Especially since cows and pigs are bred for taste and dogs and cats probably aren't. Still, I'd want to try.
Given the chance, would you try human flesh?

I've had dog and cat. Kinda stringy and dry. It's alright. I don't understand how people make a huge deal about that.

I prefer human over a red wine reduction, with pine nuts and ginger.
Actually, I hear that dog is pretty tasty, but that cats really don't taste very good. But I would be willing to try either one, or both.

I don't want to eat something I have sex with/love at the same time! That basically is the reason I won't try human flesh or dog or dolphin!
