  • Women nearly always make the first move. It's just that the first move is generally a very small, subtle one, intended to get the man to make a more decisive move.

Having said that, I think a woman with the confidence to make that first decisive move is kind of sexy.

      • Hehe, it's not always great. I met this woman once in a big group of people and we just clicked massively. Our body language adjusted and we were pretty much facing each other, excluding the rest of the group. Soon people were commenting and making jokes about us. She was very, very pretty, a bit dippy, funny, clever, geeky, sciencey, self-effacing, loved animals, was a veggie, and wore loads of purple. There was what I can only describe as electricity. Sparks were flying off both of us. It was the kind of liaison people dream of. A once in a lifetime.

Then she told me which nights she wasn't working. I thought it was strange but I ignored it. 30 minutes later she told me again. I was really confused. When she told me yet again, I thought she had some kind of strange obsession with when she was off work and I went off her a bit. It was only much later that I realised she was hinting that I should ask her if she wanted to do something with me, like go for a meal, or to the pictures. She was hinting (quite broadly) that I should ask her on a date. And dimwitted dappled missed it completely. I saw her six months after. The electricity was there again, but she was with her new boyfriend. Then she moved to Canada.

Sometimes I can be really stupid. :)

        • Sorry to hear that, too bad she didn’t just ask you; personally I don’t think see anything wrong with the idea. I think there is this notion amongst women that it is a bit masculine to ask a man out and it may just intimidate. I suppose it is a little to do with fear of rejection, just as a man fears rejection under the same circumstances.
So women all over the world continue to twirl their hair and lean in with the hopes of sparking some sort of ...... well whatever they are seeking at the time lol.
Well, at least she moved to Canada, all the best women are there ;)
Have you ever been to Canada on Holiday?

          • Not yet (I don't fly) but I've earned enough green points over the last 14 months to sail to New York and I have cousins in Canada so it'd be good to see them while I'm there. Might even bump into some of these women who are the best. :P

            • To SAIL to New York; that sounds amazing! Nevermind sounds, it is amazing!
Pardon my igorance, but what are green points?

              • My great granddad sailed to New York in 1912 and I love the idea of following in his footsteps exactly a century on. And the romance of seeing the Statue of Liberty appear in the distance and seeing so much that is familiar despite me never having been there.

As for green points, it's just a personal tally I keep. When I've done enough that isn't harmful, I get a treat. I've never driven, never flown, and haven't used any form of motorised transport for 15 months (walked absolutely everywhere). I think I've earned a ferry ride by now. I want to cross on the Queen Mary 2. Sailing into New York harbour on the flagship Cunard liner thrills me. And if I can wangle a full month off work, I get a week cruising there, two weeks in America, and a week cruising back. I just need to find the money!

          • Yeah, she was. I know I joke often, but I think I'd have married her. I feel like I should be living with her right now. I can't blame anyone but myself, though.
