Girls: is it normal went from d cup to ddd in 1 year?

Hi. I am a 24 year old female. I recently went to get fitted for a new bra since I noticed my regular size wasn't fitting correctly. When I got resized I was told (by the same place I got sized one year ago) I went from a 38D to a 38DDD. I was in shock, I didn't even know there was a DDD size. I have not gained any weight. I have obviously passed puberty by a good 10 years I believe. I have actually lost about 30lbs over this last year. So, what is the reason for this 2-cup up size in 1 year? I am bewildered. I don't think this is anything to ask the doctor, maybe at my yearly (which is a whole 9 months away!). I also have not been pregnant and am not pregnant. Breast exam negative. I am so confused!

is it normal to be in your 20's and go up 2 whole cup sizes without any weight gain or child bearing? Any ideas are appreciated.

  • What people don't know as common knowledge is that the body continues to mature after puberty and doesn't stop until about age 30. At the end of puberty the body stops growing vertically.

    • THIS!

      Seriously, people don't understand this.

I mean hell your uterus doesn't STOP developing until your mid 20s. This is why they tell teens to not get pregnant. Their bodies can't always carry full term yet and they are more prone to premature birth because they don't have a full-size uterus yet.

  • the majority of woman are not wearing the correct size bra in the first place, its usually always too small. when i got properly fitted, i went from a D cup to an F cup. so yeah, thats normal.

  • I didn't know there was a DDD either. I thought it went into E. But anyway, I think this is something to ask your doctor. It's so peculiar that I can't even begin to think what would cause it.

Having said that, some people grow three sets of teeth in their lifetimes. Sometimes our bodies do odd things.

  • here's my serious answer: sometimes bra sizes change. like, 34DDD could very well be the same as 34D because they moved the sizes up. like the same thing with womens clothing. size 14 was changed to a size 10. so if your 14 then now you have to look for a 10 because they put the sizes down so women don't feel fat. even though its the same size

  • Are you on birth control? Did you change pills/type of birth control?
When I started the pill, my body changed completely. I also notice when I change pills or go from the pill to the shot or patch, my boobs get bigger.

  • Usually breast growth stops after puberty. If you are not exhibiting an increase in weight or mass in any other part of your body, you could be in the early stages of some form of gigantomastia or macromastia. Especially of concern considering your age. You should discuss this with your medical provider as soon as you can.
