I have struggled with gastro intestinal issues for a number of years now and although I manage it okay I still have flare ups now and again. It doesn't help though that my mates refer to me as 'gastroboy'. Even when I'm having a flare up and in some discomfort it's just gastroboy, gastroboy! They chant it like a football song. Is it normal?

    Gastro boy is a reference to the 60s anime character " Astro boy ". It's extremely childish and stupid though.

    You're right to call them "mates". They certainly aren't friends. It also sounds like the group-mentality operates at the level of an eleven-year-old kid.

    Maybe it's time for you to look for a new set of friends.
