    There are more people into this than you might realize.

    You mentioned never getting the girl.

    It is funny, being a mascot at my university and later being a furry helped me find out the stuff which I was made. I was a shy guy and it sounds like you might be as well. Inside the mascot costume, it gave me a courage to become more than I was. I was outgoing and I was silly. This was carried over into my first fursuit (furry's mascot costume.)

    Whereas I was quiet and reserved out of it. I couldn't say more than a sheepish "Hi." smile, wave and blush five shades of red when an attractive woman spoke to me.

    It took me years to learn that I didn't need to wear the suit because I was the same person whether I wore it or not.

    If you have not done it, I suggest you get into wearing a mascot for your university, or get one for your own hobby. You will find confidence you need to speak to the fairer gender and learn what you are made of as well.
