Friend issues

My best friend (lets keep her name anonamous) has a (I think) bad case of depression. Once I went over to her house (she lives across the street from me) and I heard her crying through the door. I decided not to go in, just because I didn't know what to do. A few monthes later I saw her crying for half an hour after she had lunch with her boss. I was wondering if the lunch went wrong so I went over and asked her. She looked up at me and said "No." I did ask her what it was, and I'd prefer to keep it secret. Is that depression?

    Just because they cry, doesn't mean that they are depressed. everyone cries. Girls tend to be worse with that, but it doesn't mean they are or aren't. but in this case, you cannot say that it is depression because you do not have the proper information here of depression signs.

    Possibly. If your heard her crying that could just be that she was upset, not actually depressed. I would suggest baking a pie of some sort and using it to show her that you mean nothing but goodwill. Tell her that if she ever needs someone to talk to, strictly for emotional support, tell her that you're only a phone call away.

    Talk to her. If something is seriously wrong, just knowing that she has a friend who genuinely cares can go a long way.

    You can't just know if that's depression. Something could be going on in her life, and she prefers not to tell you. Depression isn't just about crying and it's impossible to diagnose that serious of an illness if you just see her cry that much. I'm guessing something big has happened in her life that has caused her to react this way.

    Just go straight up to her ask what is wrong. If she is your true friend, she should be able to tell you what is wrong. She might have had someone in her family die, or something tramatic. People cry.
