Revenge is weakness. The strong don't need revenge. They are already strong.

I agree. Revenge doesn't fix anything, it just causes more hate. If you really want to make your enemy feel bad, you should do so by living a great life. That way, he'l realize he wasn't capable to hurt you. Not one bit.

What a very convincing hypothesis. You should use that piece of magic against everyone who thinks differently than you. You could rule the world with dynamite like that.

I'm guessing neither. I think maybe you should consider that people could disagree with you. Astonishingly, it appears to have happened.

Okay, I did. I haven't suddenly pulled a 180. I think you're going to give me more to go on than you did.

As you get older you get less re-active but you also realise that revenge is like bullying a weaker person.

I agree with the others in that I may forgive them but I never forget. One thing's for sure - they'll never get a chance to hurt me again!!

Forget that the person exist and forgive their mother for birthing them.

I think it depends on the situation... I don't think there has been anything in my life where I wanted revenge on someone else (Cause no one's really hurt me to the point where I seeked vengeance, I guess).

Not once in my life has vengeance come to any good, and it left me feeling worse afterwards for making the other person feel bad. Forgive and forget, letting things brood only causes more pain, for you and the other person. Although I guess it does depends on the situation, like if someone killed your family member or something of that sort.

  • Where's "Neither"? Can't we just hold a grudge?

    • How can you? If you don't forget and forgive that means you have the urge for revenge but if you don't want a revenge then that means you have forgotten and forgiven how can you choose neither??

No...it means you don't want to actually DO anything to the person, but you're not going to forgive them either, or forget. Cutting a person out of your life, not speaking to someone ever again, not helping them out ever again, etc...that's not revenge, that's just holding a grudge. Revenge would mean that you purposely go out of your way to cause harm to the person.

I'm curious, would cutting someone out of your life allow you or them enough time to forgive and forget? I'm only asking because I had to recently cut someone out of my life in order to save a friendship (long story), and I'm wondering if eventually she'll forgive and forget or hold a grudge.

      • Um well some of us don't believe in revenge..I'm a big grudge holder, but I never try to get revenge.

        • Well then those some whom you are talking about who never try to get revenge believe in Forget and Forgive. And btw you had asked for an option "neither" and now you just talk about not getting a revenge i hope you understand what "Forget and Forgive" mean.

    Revenge is much more satisfying.
Though, I have to say, it really all depends the situation, and who the person is that wronged you.

        Thank you, haha.
I thought it was pretty fair. It is because I said that revenge is more satisfying. One thing I have learned from this site is, if you have your own opinion and it may not be what everyone else believes, then you best not share it.

        • I mean you said it all depends and i think everyone would be concerned if the situation is a worst case scenario, i dont even want to give examples for it only then am sure revenge is satisfying.

And yea as everyone know it that nobody's view is going to match with the world so don't think about the rest just be the best and share your opinion. people will say what they want to and think what they have to. may be your words effects someone who does not vote or comment or reply..
As i liked your comment so did i give you a thumbs up.

          Cheers!!

Well if he/she really made me feel bad or hurt me somehow it would be nice to get revenge, but that's more easily said than done.
If I could go to his home, put a knife in his heart and slice his body up into little pieces I might consider that but the law wont let me so I'll just tell him/her what I think of him/her (ffs him/her BS) and ignore him/her forever unless he/her apoligizes.

Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could have been any different

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • If you actively seek out the need for revenge then you openly admit just how much of a negative impact the person had on you.

It would be healthier to just forgive and forget overall.

In the end the ultimate revenge is on us anyway and there is no escaping so who cares.

In most cases, I know the right response would be to forgive and forget, but that's hardly ever the case. As human beings, we seek revenge. And it might be wrong, but it feels so good to get revenge on someone who has wronged you.

I guess it depends on the scope of the transgression.

Something small like tossing a piece of litter on my lawn. I pick it up and forget the numbskull who did it.

Someone abuse a member of my family or endanger them..........REVENGE, big-time!!

I'll forgive over time but never forget. But if it's someone who I've hated from my last four years that offends me again after all this time, that's when I'd really enjoy settling the score. I wish I would've when I got the chance to once.

Well here's my story when I was little I was sexually molested by my step father almost my hole childhood. He was the only dad I ever knew and despite what he had done to me he was a great dad when he wasn't doing things to me and I loved him as my own. When I was 13 my mom had already divorced him and I came out with what had happened. This was one of the toughest and hardest things I have ever had to go through. When they arrested him and put him in jail they had him in solitary confinement and the night it aired on the news he just happened to get put in population . (Wich he wasn't supposed to) he got raped and beaten up by the other prisoners so bad he had to be hospitalized and has permanant damage in his asshole. The point in me telling you this is because despite how much my family wanted revenge and me too we couldn't do anything and itd make things worst. But I'm a strong beleiver in karma and god and he got what he deserved. After that he bailed out and it took 2 years to go to court I didn't want to go to court I was scared to face him but by the end of it it made me a stronger person. I thought I had already letten go and moved on but realized I hadn't. After court he was sentenced to 5 years in jail wich no one thought was enough. I'm 18 now and can finally say I am over everything that happened. I have not forgotten but I have forgiven, and that has made me the strong person I am today. Because I was able to forgive, I hated but loved this man, he was the only father I ever knew. But for the end of this story forgive but don't forget. And as for revenge karma and god will take care of that for you.
