For singles, do you invite your family to your place?

I am in my early 30s, single. And do t have children. I live in a small apartment.

I go to my parents' place for special occasions, and I go to my sister's once a week. I have been living in my current place for a year and have never had my sister's family over for dinner. They have come a couple of times, but just for a drink. My sister has two young children. Whenever I go to my family for dinner I bring either a box of chocolates, flowers, or a small chocolate bar for each of the kids.

Is it rude that I have never invited my sister over for dinner, even though I go to hers once a week?

I sometimes invite friends over for a meal, only one at a time, and I have no issues with this, however, when it comes to my sister and her family I feel differently, because of the kids. I feel that my apartment is not child friendly, and is too small.

Do you invite your family around to your place even though you are single yourself?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I once invited a couple and their children to my apt for steak and all 3 kids totally wrecked my shit in a matter of 30 minutes, I kindly had to tell them to GTFO once one touched the volume knob on my 3k stereo system, a week later I fucked his Wife.

If you don't have the accommodations then then don't worry about it.

  • Unless you live in a New York City apartment the size of a closet then I think it's pretty much your prerogative.

    • Not all New York apartments are that small so I appreciate if you don't exaggerate that much
