  • People who massively exaggerate about the medical benefits of marijuana are detracting from their own cause.

No treatment is *ever* 100% effective. We don't have a 100% effective cure for the common cold, let alone cancer. If you can find a reputable source that states this treatment could be 100% effective I will be convinced.

The compound derived from marijuana that could help cancer is called Cannabidiol. "You could never get enough Cannabidiol for it to be effective just from smoking" - direct quote from one of the researchers, found here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/19/marijuana-and-cancer_n_1898208.html It's also worth noting there have been a grand total of zero human trials (if there have, they certainly haven't been long term).

EDIT: I'm not "anti-mairjuana". Barely anyone is these days, and 50% of IIN is probably high right now. I just don't think the medical benefits are anywhere near as exciting as some people say.

    • If the government didn't censor and try to prevent research proving that marijuana has effective medicinal benefits, then there would be plenty research for you. And there was indeed an article published by the National Cancer Institute / National Institute of Health (a federal organization), stating exactly how they did it and why. Also, I said that they confirmed it EITHER prevents, stops, or cures the cancer, it probably depends on what type it is and how bad they let it get before giving it some good ol marijuana.
And never did I say anything about smoking marijuana. They found the best way for getting medicinal benefits is either from taking orally, or injecting. And the handful of cancers that they have indeed CONFIRMED are curable by marijuana were by injecting a concentrated form of marijuana with a couple tweaks into the cancerous cells and it inhibits and kills the cancerous cells. And they have done human trials. Spain has also put cannabis oil on their list of ways to treat cancer in HUMANS (treat the cancer, not just the pain). So please leave my poll with your cockamamie ignorance, thank you.

      • Your OP: "100% effective cure"
Your OP: "marijuana prevents, stops, and cures a handful of cancers (that have been confirmed so far)"

You said that marijuana completely, 100%, eliminates chances of some types of cancer, and that these results are confirmed and thus beyond doubt. I'm sorry, but that isn't true.

        • I'd love to see the look on your face if your loved one gets one of the types of cancer and is like, don't even worry about it, they're going to inject some cannabinol in me and i'ma be perfectly fine.

          • I'm not denying it *might* be effective. I'm saying you are massively exaggerating the capabilities, which you are (dare I say it, you 100% are :P). I know you know I'm right about that, or you wouldn't have bothered to try and deflect me.

People who tell lies about science bother me. My problem with you isn't about weed, it's that you lied about the credibility of the science to further your own ideology.

            • Yes, I could probably have gone without the 100% cure for cancer, since it hasn't been 5 years since they developed this new technique that has eliminated tumors in some people, because a "cure" is defined as something that doesn't allow the symptoms to come back for a minimum of five years. I do tend to exaggerate to make a point, but it doesn't make the idea any less true. And that is that how can people who are SOOOO anti marijuana dislike a plant that has cured, for now, some cases of tumors, and at the bare minimum, GREATLY reduces their size.
