Finally met someone... but didn't like him?

I am twenty-one and have never had a boyfriend. Well I met a really a really nice guy, who was also really good-looking... I know that part isn't important, but it's a bonus. Anyway, I was really excited to get to know him. He was a gentleman and everything. The problem was, we couldn't connect at all. We could never find anything to talk about with each other, yet I wanted to keep trying. We got to know each other better but still could not talk to each other for some reason, except when we were drinking.

So I decided to give it up. I didn't think it was going anywhere. But is this normal? I mean, for years I have been complaining that I wanted a boyfriend and would take the first guy who was interested in me. It finally happened and I turned him down.

Should I have just gotten into a relationship with him anyway?

You made the best decision. You only live life once - why spend a large majority of it unhappy with someone because you two have nothing in common?

Your decision was fine. If you can't seem to relate or talk witt him, then what's the point? I'm pretty sure that a bunch of better looking people might be interested & are just around you. :)

yes, do not get a boyfriend for the sake of just getting one. it is important to follow your heart. Since both of you cannot link and connect, i see no point of trying to salvage the relationship and letting it continue. The relationship will sour and both of you will suffer. so you did the right choice of turning him down. :)
all i could say is, you are still young, and there are still many opportunities. Do not try to get a boyfriend so fast and overlook others that will perhaps suit you even better.
Your mr right will appear soon enough!

If you can't connect, then the relationship would fail anyway.

  • hmmmm. Sounds to me like you are a very shy and quiet person, maybe not around the friends you already have, but around people you don't know. You have to remember you can't settle, I am going through exactly what you are going through, and it's very hard, but I think you should try to find someone who is opposite of you. You need someone who talks a lot, and so do I. LOL.
