I have had a feeling that i can only describe as emptiness as well. I think what i feel is slightly different than yours though, but I think it is normal. It is difficult and makes me cry sometimes as well.
It is my opinion that a lot of people have this feeling of lacking as well because we all try and fill ourselves with something be it food, alcohol, parties, sex, drugs or on the healthier side spirituality or finding God, Jesus, Allah, or just forgiveness.
I think we all have this feeling that we are not yet complete and we have to search for what does complete us. I don't mean "you complete me" because that is in fact an unhealthy relationship because every individual should be whole themselves before choosing to be with another. That aside some people want families some want fulfilling jobs or artistic fulfillment or some combination thereof. Maybe there is something you are drawn to do in life that this feeling is leading you to discover? whatever it is you probably want something more and just feel it much more than others.
