Gump was kinda stupid and oblivious, but he was never mentally handicapped ! Only problem he had were with his legs which got cured before he finished school and he became one of the fastest runner ever (and accomplished way lot more). He was called stupid but NEVER was he called mentally challenged. He was supposed to be a symbol of naive but successful conservatives. Rocky was showed kinda unintelligent and had limited speech problem, well most uneducated boxers were like that. But never was he ever showed to be mentally challenged, although there were some post match traumas like after the loss to Clubber Lang, and thats a real thing with fighters....
