Family gatherings

Is it normal to hate someone who you should consider family?
it's like this, my mom and her doesn't get along very well and I understand why. She is a manipulative person who will get you in trouble even if you're not doing anything wrong. And every time we have family gatherings she will come even if she is not invited and my mom of course will have to leave immediately so that they will not have to interact with one another. I never have fun whenever she is around and I hate her for that.

Yea, I think we mostly agree that everybody hates their OWN (blood line) familys. I like my girlfriend's family, but thats probably cuz I don't know em too well yet.

If "her" is your step-mother, then you could be strongly influenced by your own mother's animosity towards her, rather than your own personal experiences with her. It's normal to dislike people who you feel are a threat to your parents (your mom), even when you are not fully aware of the "adult" issues behind the conflict.

Yes, no one's family is perfect. My aunt is like a time bomb, really easily offended. I also havent seen my grandmother in years for being a complete bitch. The rest of my alive (distant) relatives are mostly assholes.
It's perfectly fine to avoid relatives if theyre assholes.

Families are like that. My friend's dad is one of eleven brothers and sisters. Of the eight of his siblings' weddings he attended, all but two of them ended with a fist-fight amongst the male siblings. At one of them, even the women joined in.
