F.o.i.l fixed factoring

f.o.i.l - first, outer, inner, last

I used to struggle a lot with parts of algebra, but ever since I learned that simple mnemonic, everything seems so much more clear and orderly.

I could barely multiply binomials without screwing up, and you couldn't even get me started on factoring, but ever since f.o.i.l, I've been on a roll.

Pun intended.

This wouldn't be the first time a mnemonic has been an extremely valuable memory aid to me.

Years ago, I learned HOMES, to remember all the Great Lakes by, and I haven't forgotten their names.

Has anyone else found mnemonics to be so helpful?
