Extremely lonely and depressed?

  • Yes, it's normal to be lonely and long for a companion, but don't let it control you, don't let it dominate your existence. I know it might not sound fair, but it seems the more desperate one is the less likely one is to find someone. It's like desperation has a smell, and most people worth dating think it stinks. It seems like the only ones who like the smell desperation are users and manipulators. I personally think it makes others, myself included, feel suffocated and overwhelmed.

    Not that I haven't felt desperate in my life, but it always seems that I don't find anyone until I've let go of the desperation, and started to be happy and okay about my single status. I know it's frustrating and sounds crazy, but I swear it works.

    Take some classes or go to meet-ups about different hobbies and activities you're interested in and there's a good chance you'll meet someone nice eventually. Also make a list of must haves and deal breakers.
