Welcome to reality. In western culture most people are raised on a bunch of bullshit ideologies. I.e. "Just be yourself and people will like you for you", "beauty is on the inside", "try your hardest and good things will happen", "work hard and you'll be rewarded for it"
This is all crap.
If being accepted by others is that important to you, yes you will have to morph into a new personality and put on a big dog and pony show to get them to like you. Especially around women if that's important to you (again I have no idea), women tend to gravitate towards men who are the loudest and get the most attention from other males.
Or you could just do you, and not care what others think.
Boredom is easily fixed: you must have some interests, pursue them until you find your passion and pursue that.
I saw this quote yesterday by Pablo Picasso:
"The meaning of life is to find your gift and the purpose of life is to give it away." Not that he gave his paintings away as far as I know, but not a bad idea I think.
