Emotional after having kids

when I was younger I would never even think of tearing up watching a movie where a family member dies. But since I had my kid I notice I do this now. I'm a man and this is unusual to me. The only thing that does it is when it has something to do with family dying or something along that line.

Is It Normal?

  • Yeah, this happened to me. It calms down a bit as they get older.

  • Perhaps it's newly found sympathy or empathy?

    • I wonder if its not a hormonal thing. It's like my eyes will water up automatically even if I dont feel extremely sad. Its something that had never happened to me then came over night. Its really odd.

  • It is called crying with joy.

  • I'll feel sad if something has a sad enough ending, but never in the middle of things. I tend to find that bittersweet endings make me the saddest, though some happy endings can, and some sad endings can, if I like the characters.

    • The endings dont matter it always has to do with family stuff like on a movie if a wife or someone gets cancer
