Ecstasy refer to the chemical compound MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine).

"Speed" most often refer to various amphetamine salts or methamphetamine, chemically related to MDMA but still completely different compounds with different psychological and physiological effects.

So no, ecstasy does not (or at least should not) contain amphetamine (speed) of any kind. However there are a number of different chemical analogues to MDMA that are often sold as ecstasy (most notably MDA and MDEA, if memory serves me). MDA and MDEA both produce effects almost indistinguishable from MDMA to the novice.

But then again like some other poster mentioned, it's not uncommon that pills sold as "ecstasy" contain very little to no MDMA. It's often cut with ephedrine, caffeine, amphetamine, pma, bzp or methamphetamine amongst other drugs.

While MDMA and its analogues are fairly safe when used in moderation, unless you perform vigorous chemical reaction tests you can never be sure what's in your pills. Therefore a lot of "ecstasy"-related deaths can be attributed to PMA, BZP and other substances passed off as ecstasy.

MDMA and its analogues aren't harmless though, there's been deaths from dehydration, seizures, strokes and heart-attacks just to name a few - attributed to pure MDMA and/or analogues.

    @ The poster:

I'd advice you to stop using it immediately, especially at your age. Since you're young and I assume in good health you're unlikely to suffer any acute complications but as I mentioned earlier it _can_ lead to depression (often treatment-resistant), anxiety and/or cognitive impairments in the future. Especially since you're at an age where your brain is still developing.
