Eating ice brings me great pain.

I enjoy eating ice. I'll fill up a cup and sit in my bed eating it. But every time I'm done eating my cup of ice I get an intense pain right where my neck connects to my left shoulder. (Only the left one.) It honestly feels like a brain freeze, just not where it should be. It's probably one of the most painful things I've ever experience and even though it causes me great discomfort I still eat ice every night and I endure the pain. Lately I've noticed the pain is spreading farther up my neck and over my shoulder. I'm beginning to become concerned. Does anybody know what the heck is going on,and should I be concerned?

Is It Normal?

  • It's likely a brain freeze, but you're just feeling it there. Use hot water bottle, or drink a warm drink after your ice. See if it changes.

  • I also have the same exact problem, I cant stop eating ice because I enjoy it so much, It's my favorite food. I'm concerned as well, because I feel the pain when I'm at work assisting patients. It's now affecting my daily life. I go to the gym and work it out, but I'm sure it's just the beginning of a real problem.

  • I cannot stand it when people eat ice... Ooooooh... That's in the same category as scratching a black board. Raw nerves overtaxed....

  • Stop eating ice. Maybe the ice is too big. Sonic ice would be better but still crunchy.
