  • I don't know my Bible too well, because I'm not religious, but I don't believe it says anywhere that the earth is flat? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd be genuinely interested in reading the passage where it says this.

    • There's dozens of references to the ends of the Earth, the four corners of the Earth, the Earth being unmovable, etc.

Things get twisted and lost in translation over time, but if you read the bible it seems pretty clear that the authors strongly believed that the Earth was an unmovable flat disk at the center of the universe. The fact that the Catholic Church banned people from suggesting otherwise until ~250 years ago should tell you a lot.

      • Isaiah 40:22 says exactly what you are talking about.

        • It says the "circle" of the earth. Not a globe. Checkmate globetards!

          • I mean, they already gave you the exact verse, but alright. "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in."

I got that from the first google search result that came up: https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/bible-verses-about-flat-earth/

            Here's a bunch more: http://www.testingtheglobe.com/bible.html

It doesn't just say it once or twice, it's a regularly recurring theme. It's treated as something so obvious and well known that it doesn't even need to be outright stated, just like a book today would talk about going around the world or reference days and years without explicitly saying the Earth is a sphere that orbits the sun. And if you think the above quotes are too vague to be taken literal, consider the fact that the same could be said of the entire book. Those same quotes were used to attack anybody who said the Earth wasn't flat and wasn't at the center of the universe until the 1700's just like similarly vague quotes are used to attack women and LGBT folk to this day.

              • The bible says heretics like you who manufacture alternative facts will burn in damnation. BURN in pain and regret of your wretched sinful attitudes and actions!!! BURN for all of eternity in the horror of satan himself. REPENT YE WRETCHED SINNER, and be glad that Isaiah 40:22 is total shit.

    • Actually the bible really does say so. In fact, the subtitle says "the earth is flat", though bibles are often printed without the subtitle to not scare christians away
