During christmas dinner, my little sister is on her phone

Today During Christmas Dinner, with my family; my little sister was one her cell-phone and laughing away at something on Instagram. Yes, she was at the dinner table too, but also on her damn phone. She has it 24/7, constantly all the time until when the time does come when she's not on it. It was driving me up the wall. I was sitting next to her and hearing her laugh about something stupid and wouldn't even put her phone down.

I love her, but it's just so annoying. Well, I didn't say anything to her so to keep the peace and not quarrel about it. So I just kept quiet and tried my best to enjoy time together with family. Now's not the time to start fight's but Sometimes I just wish she would be considerate and do something with herself for once.

You were right not argue about it because no one likes a Christmas shit stirrer.

But yeah, it's annoying as fuck. Some of my younger relatives are the social media generation and it horrifies me that so many of them are allowed to have their phones out during dinner, family catch ups, meals out etc. I think it's disgustingly rude and my children will never be allowed to do this (fortunately they are all too young for phones...for now).

They aren't your kids though so... What can you do? Just vow to never let your own kids be this obnoxious and keep smiling.

Take it off her hands and beat her into submission.

It might not seem like the best thing, but at least she came down to the table. I assume she's a teenager, so I honestly think it's not that big of a deal. Maybe she doesn't feel like being there, and this is a form of escapism for her.

My room mate is almost 30 and still lives on her phone.

at my nana and pappaws christmas dinner everyone is everywhere. we could care less what people do as long as they are happy. we have food. we have presents. and the best part stories from times i was not even around to see. there are people playing video games, watching youtube, taking pictures, watching tv, and sleeping. who cares? christmas is a time to be happy no matter in what way.

Perhaps mention it to her later on in private. Social media is addictive and parents should not let their kids have access to it until a certain age. Boundaries should be set. I have little cousins who do the same. I really don't think it's their fault. Companies are creating more and more ways to keep us entertained and like zombies. First came the TV. Now this. In a world where we don't feel at liberty to be our true selves, escapism is the next best thing and everyone falls for it. So while advising her, be kind.

That is so rude!Especially at Christmas, too! People should be present at the dinner table. When someone's on their phone at the table, it shows that they're not interested in what other people have say.
