  • Every time I eat at a restaurant and see a family of more than 3, it really makes me wonder why these people are acting so irresponsibly.
Way back when, with the need for unpaid help on the farm, and infant mortality at 50% or better, there was a valid reason to have a lot of children.
Today, it's irresponsible, selfish and pretty cruel. No child likes wearing "hand me downs" sharing a bed or not getting enough attention from their parents.
Never mind, overpopulation, it just makes absolutely no sense, and since most huge families can't get by without government assistance, a burden on others.

    • Psh I came from a large family and I grew up happy. I never had to share a bed and hand me downs aren't even all that bad, I hated shopping for clothes anyway. I also got plenty of attention from my parents. They worked hard to support us and keep us happy and I learned to appreciate what I got. So, you know, quit generalizing.

      • I am happy for you and I did indeed generalize, but what else can one do?
No matter how happy you were, or how good an upbringing you had, the basic point is that it is totally irresponsible and selfish to have a lot of children in today's world.

        • No its not, as long as the couple love each other AND are responsible to love how many children they have there is no harm in having a large happy family now a days, as long as they are not scroungers thats OK with me

          • That's fine, as that is your opinion. My opinion is that it's irresponsible at best. No matter what kind of upbringing those kids have or how much love/attention those kids in big families get the simple fact is they are more human beings polluting the planet, which is unavoidable given consumption of resources. Having 5 kids instead of 3 is not necessarily a bad thing, but you can't knock the fact it creates more waste/pollution on a planet we all have to share.
