It's not normal to be a functional alcoholic at all. If he can't go a day without drinking then alcohol, to him at the moment, is more important to him. My farther was a drug addict and to do whats best is take everything away from him. Don't just say would leave him. Actually do it, or he'll just keep jackin you around.
