Dogs keep chasing me

I like to keep in shape so I take walks every day. Every time I leave my house one of my neighbors dogs chases me. I have been bitten before and since I am severely allergic to dogs it has turned into multiple trips to the hospital. I keep asking them to keep their dogs in their yard or fenced up. The problem stops for a few days but then the dog is back out chasing me again.

I keep a stick with me now, as some of the dogs chase me home, to scare the dogs back only to make the owners mad at me. Not that I really care but I can't fight dogs and people at the same time.

Note I am on the road, not in anyone's yard when they chase me.

Calling the cops has not worked on solving the problem. What should I do to keep the dogs away?

    Walk around with some strong citrus fruits or scents, some Dogs will avoid the smell, it should work plus there would be no need to harm the dogs. I'll feel like shit if this does not work for you

    They only chase you because you are scared of them. If you are scared it is tough to not be. Get some pepper spray

    You're doing it wrong, dogs want to attack things that run. That's why they chase bikers and cars.

      I say pepper spray, but no stun gun unless the dog is big and obviously dangerous.

        its an escalation

        i loves me some dawgs too (not in the iin sense neither) but im gonna fuckin well defend myself as needed

        id say a stun gun might be less cruel as a neglegent owner aint gonna take carea no peppersprayed dawg and theyd hafta suffer for hours till it wears off versus a 2 second zappin seminar

        dawgs gonna learn to stayway from the op the same either way
