Although I wouldn't say it's the social norm, it IS perfectly normal. As long as you are sensitive to his needs and feelings (and RESPECTING those needs and feelings as an EQUAL), then it's perfectly okay. The public perception and treatment of dogs as "children" with fur who are incapable of mature thought, emotions, deep love and sexual desire is the result of humans' uncontrolled maternal instincts, a gross lack of open-mindedness and a desire (conscious or unconscious) to dominate/control or feel depended upon. There is nothing wrong with LOVE (and it's by-products). As long as you hold a genuine love and respect for him as an equal, and he wants to have sex with you, then by all means...be his mate!! It's natural (and extremely common) for then to desire us as their mates--even when they have options within their own species (they are capable of conscious decision-making, which HAS been proven to the nth degree).
Love knows no boundaries. Only the false ones that ignorant mankind places upon it.
