  • More often than not music directs my mood.

  • Yes. Completely.

I listen to Shock Rock whenever I put my finger in a power outlet.
I listen to Death Metal whenever I'm dead.
I like to listen to Black Sabbath whenever I turned black on the sabbath.

  • Not really. I mostly listen to country....idk how that can effect anyone's mood lol

  • For me, not at all. I don't listen to music to match whatever emotion I happen to be feeling at the time. I listen to music because I want to enjoy some music. Often times though, happy music has a way of making me momentarily happier. Though sad music doesn't have the opposite effect on me.

  • Definitely! I commented to someone the other day that I feel fortunate that I am so responsive to music and choose whatever suits my mood - DVD's and CD's at home and (this is going to get some laughs) cassettes in the car, nearly all taped from the CD's.

Leonard Cohen in particular has a song for every mood; John Coltrane or Gumurrul to calm me down; P J Harvey or Springsteen to get me moving and heaps more ......

  • Not really. Listening to music is a form of escapism for me, so I listen to whatever has the best power of mental transportation.
I don't have any particular song or genre I turn to when I'm feeling down.
