It depends on what you are studying and how prestigious the school is. If you're majoring in something useless like gender studies or philosophy, it doesn't really matter. However if you're majoring in something like engineering it does. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is obviously better than Georgia Institute of Technology which is better than Florida Institue of Technology.

If you plan on getting a graduate degree like say an MBA or Law or medicine, this is much more important than where you get your undergrad. Factor the cost of college; if all else is relatively equal, and you are paying out of pocket or with student loans, a state university will save you more money than a private college.

Something else you might want to look into if you know what you want to to do is find out if certain companies/firms have a "pipeline" from specific universities. Some places shun certain schools in favor of others, even if they're on paper not much worse or better.

The only time it MIGHT matter is if we are talking some rich kid school like Harvard, Yale, or some other big name.

Otherwise it don't make two shits.

    I chose no.

You should try to get into the best college for your field of study.

But I believe that employers look more for people who work hard than where they went to school.

You'll get the same basic education anywhere, it's who you know that makes the difference.

It's a waste of time regardless. College is a place where they basically condition you for a "carreer" with a regimented work schedule and present you with no other options for your life. You wont get anything but indoctrination and memorization of questionably accurate facts there.
