Wow, 10 ride-alongs? Holy shit!! Well, I've been in a cop car way more than 10 times. Not always in the front seat, admittedly. I know many cops, en con officers and game wardens. My family has been very close friends with a long-time cop forever now, he used to bring us confiscated shit all the time like bikes and crap. Big deal. I know how to take what I read or hear or see and process/sort it pretty well.
I used to be the reporter for a youth group I was in. I know firsthand that papers fuck up. A lot. But I also know how to fact-check, or use common sense to determine the accuracy of a story. I also read the corrections column, which most people don't do.
And you don't think that on a ride-along that the cop is probably trying to impress you or be on his best behavior? You don't believe a newspaper but you take a ride-along with a cop as absolute accuracy? Dumbass.

So, yeah, I guess you could say I enjoyed the looks on their faces when I walked out of the courthouse free as a bird. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling every time I think about it, thanks for stirring up the fond memories.
