  • This kind of attitude is what leads to hate crimes and violence, i want mere acceptance and representation. Keeping homosexuality hidden and concealed is what leads to ignorant people thinking it's okay to do horrible things to gay people. And they sure love to use the excuse of "free speech" to be hateful. They have the right to do so but i don't want it to be the norm.

Also, did you really just compare being tall to being gay? Are tall people executed, put in prison, harassed, mocked, beaten, disowned, honor killed for being tall in some countries? No. Sorry to burst your bubble but being gay is still not as tolerated as you would like to believe.

    • Are we talking about America here or the world at large? I was not comparing being tall to being gay, that was just an example to explain that society is designed for the norm.

I don't think that kind of attitude leads to hate crimes. People have the right to think whatever they want about gay people and unfortunately for you guys, that view is not as positive as it is of straight people. And I don't think there is anything you can do that will help to a notable degree that does so without infringing free speech rights. Free speech is a very valid "excuse" to be hateful.

      • I think you don't understand how sociology works, If you created a poll for the country asking "do you accept LGBTQ people?" 50 years ago vs today, do you really think it would be the same? No, because society changes and their views on certain people change too, women centuries ago were seen as mere housewives who can't handle taking a job like a man. Nowadays, we see women as equals to men who can do anything a man can do. Mentalities change, and these mentalities change by exposure and having conversations about said thing. Staying silent about the LGBTQ and not representing them as they should be will continue this cycle of bigotry; hands down.

And yes, i'm speaking about the world in general but using the the west in some examples.

Almost all the progress that's reasonable to expect has already been made and you will never get it to be as accepted as you want it to be.
