I can relate to what you're saying there. I can only speak for myself in saying that I probably have to do a lot more work on myself. I think there are certain things about me that attract jerks, additionally and at the very least I probably am not adept enough at recognizing the red flags when I meet a toxic person. I'm now trying to do research and learn as much as I can about narcissists and narcissistic abuse. I don't want anymore of that garbage in my life so I have to be proactive about the process of healing and bettering myself. I have to ask what was my part in all of this.
