Does every one fall out of touch after you graduate?

High school was a blast. I was sneaking out during the week and staying out all weekend. I was the guy who was friends with someone in every group. I never really had a best friend but I did have three guys who I was pretty tight with. But that was two years ago. Since then I've forgone college for a career in a trade. My friends went to college, all of them. Since then we shoot emails back in forth maybe once a month but that's only two of them. I don't get calls or responses to messages sent to them. When they're in town they never call. I don't know what happened. All of a sudden I have no friends. Sure a few at work but we don't hang out. I just wonder some times what happened and is it normal to just loose touch with everyone you used to be friends with?

Is It Normal?

  • I had oh so many friends in high school & college, but once you're out of school you're just in the real world. I haven't seen anyone for years. It sucks but that's just the way it is. Yes, everyone really does just split up...

  • That's how it goes. People change and go off in different directions. I've been out of high school for a long time and I only occasionally talk to my friends from school. Sometimes it turns out you didn't have much in common with them anyway.

  • Statistically it's highly improbable to keep in contact with more than three high school buds, let alone stay good friends.

  • Yes. People are bastards and never talk to you again. They should die.

  • Sorry sweetie, it's rare when it doesn't turn out like that.

  • I was like you, high school was a blast for me, I never understood how people could hate it. I graduated last year and I've noticed that friends I talked to in school are know longer my friends. But, I was aware at the end of high school that it was going to happen. People move on, they go to college, move out of town, they just move on with life. That's okay, friends will come and go and you should enjoy the memories but don't dwell on them. Not to sound harsh, but try not living in the past so much. Embrace your new time in life and friends will follow. But, if you don't want to wait, then my advice is to go places where you can meet people. If your intrested in sports, then go to a sports bar a game people who have the same interest as you will be there. I hope this helped :)
