Really? That makes no sense. I've looked at several different dictionaries now and they all say generally that religion is a system of beliefs. It certainly makes no sense for a dictionary to use the word 'religious' when defining the word 'religion'. And faith/observance to a religion isn't equivalent to a religion itself, otherwise you'd have to show faith/observance to a religion in order to recognise it as a religion. And so for example, according to everyone except buddhists, Buddhism wouldn't be recognised as a religion.
Also 'observance' in that definition anyway means 'obeying', as in obeying the religious laws. It doesn't mean 'acknowledgement'. Atheists acknowledge the Bible and other religions, but we don't follow their laws.
Does anyone who has a religion think this?
