Does a slightly bad smile take away from a person?

I'm a pretty confident person, but of course I come with my insecurities! I'm always told I'm very pretty and I'm complimented on my eyes and personality etc etc......but my smile makes it hard for me to go for guys I find truly attractive..I kinda find myself settling and I hate the thought of that.....it really gets to me sometimes...I find myself comparing my smile to other girls and it just lowers my confidence even more:/ I hate smiling and I tend to cover my mouth a lot and I'm really starting to notice how obvious it is....my teeth are crooked on the bottom and one of my top teeth sticks out further than the rest because of an accident I had when I was a child...is it really as bad as I think?

Sorry for the long rant!

  • Fixing my teeth was the best money I've ever spent on myself. I didn't realize what a difference it made until after I had it done because I was already pretty confident before I had them fixed. Wow, what a difference!

  • You should try to feel comfortable with yourself and not compare your smile or anything you think less than perfect to anyone else. We all have things we are insecure about. If you can fix it, do so to feel better and more confident. I think any smile is better than no smile!

  • most british people have bad teeth,if you only stay around them then you will be normal.

  • It depends on how shallow a person is how much they think about the cosmetic qualities of your teeth. Now Im assuming you don't have Austin Powers or Seam McGowan teeth...but a little bit uneven or crooked is seriously no big deal. When I hear people say that teeth is the first thing they notice I think they are a big douche.
There are plenty of models with 'imperfect' teeth Georgia Jagger, Vanessa Paradis, that chic who plays Sookie Stackhouse.
Bottom line: if your teeth bother you or physically hurt then get them fixed, if its just because you compare yourself to others than don't worry about it.

  • Yeah dude few years ago now me and the misses were doing a bit of yard work, oh praise Jesus! When she asked if she had a nice smile to her I said " honestly if god wanted you to look like a calf licking shards of glass he did an amazing job" but I said I'd gladly change her appearance with my hammer and a piece of chewing gum, long story short stay with what god gave ya x

  • Hey now. If you don't want to dish out a shit load of money on braces, who cares! Embrace it! I personally am extremely ATTRACTED to an off-smile. Sure, straight teeth are nice, but there's something about a crooked tooth that makes me attracted to a guy. Is THAT normal? ;)
Embrace it :) Or save up for some braces - they wont cost much at all if you've only got one tooth to fix on the top!
