I use to bust my ass at every and any job, I mean I would always go above and beyond for every employer. But after twenty years of it, I realized that nobody actually cares and I was burning myself out for nothing. Now I do everything that is expected, and I only go out on a limb every now and then. My stress level went way down and my employers still loved me and rewarded me with bonuses and raises quite often. I think I used to be a stressed-out work-whore and when I stopped, the brilliant things I did were recognized and appreciated more.
I have to note one more thing: Honestly, it's rare to find someone under the age of 25 with a sharp work ethic. :) Depressing, but true.
im 18 i work 50+ hours a week i always get the cafe i work at for minimum wage opened and ready by the time it needs to be and i go above and beyond my job requirement's to make sure everything goes smoothly i manage other staff *not my job* *do ordering food coffee stock ect* also not my job* find staff to cover when people are sick as my manager is a fat lazy bitch. i have to get up at 5am to get to work at six as i dont have a car or any other method of transport and am never late.
id say i have a very good work ethic and most of my friends are the same.
so id say its not true.
Have always worked harder than I need to. Has often caused me to be taken advantage of but in my current job it is appreciated. 3-4 payrises within a year, managing my own area & lots of small perks.
24 by the way... & often lecturing, training & showing up people with twice my experience.
Found my groove!
