Do you ever try and figure out who is writing a post?
No, it's not something I tend to think about. Not unless the writing style is distinctive, in which case, it usually just pops up in my head without having to think about it. For example, today I came across a post with an OP who writes similar to me. I wasn't deliberately paying attention to their writing style, but I think it's normal for your brain to spot patterns like that and pick up on things.
The only time I try to work it out is when I want to know who the OP is (shocker:P). It doesn't happen often, but every now and again someone says something which piques my OP curiosity. I sometimes just ask in those cases, although not always.
Either way, the majority of the time, my answer to your question is no.:)
I try to avoid it, because I feel like it's kind of invading their privacy when they're probably intentionally trying to be anonymous. Sometimes (but only rarely) I can't help myself trying to work it out if they're writing in a certain way which closely resembles a regular, or says something that makes me curious.
Nah, I don't think about it. Along with the good points that people have made that suggest every post is supposed to be anonymous, I don't truly know people here well enough to even notice writing styles. Maybe more time would allow me to do that but it isn't something I'm interested in, the mystery keeps things unbiased.
No, I treat each one as if it were a stranger asking the question and not a regular user of the site. I even actively avoid looking for patterns in grammar and spelling in an effort to respect the anonymity of the OP. Identifying the OP is irrelevant to how I vote, give advice, or how I express my opinion in a comment.
The only thing I do wonder about, is the age of the OP because for some stories it is very relevant.
Its great to have anonymous questions, that way we can have questions answered that would otherwise have us feeling judged (and realistically we would be) and help make the world a better place, this can prevent people making wrong decisions by shedding new light they already heard at a new angel and completely different light they never saw before. Uncovering blind spots as you will.
I have thought about this before, but in most cases it's impossible to tell who it is. And that's even if it's a regular poster, which is probably isn't.
I post a story every once in a while but I don't think anyone could tell which ones.
But if I had to guess who wrote this one... I would say... that Marlboro Man troll that's popped up recently, cause it's always the person you lease expect.
