Because I'm sure some people are thinking women should not be allowed to be in front line. Not because they're women that they can't do the same thing a man can do. Just look at the kitchen comments. Those guys basically say their role should be in a kitchen when a woman should be able to do what she wants. Being frontline included. Also not letting them be frontline is sexist in my point of view but that's how I see things.
You're right. Keeping women away from the front lines (at least from the American POV) means less pay for women in uniform, plus lower chances for promotions, decorations (medals), and (for female officers) lower chances of being appointed as a command officer.
