Do you think this site has a tendency to form circle jerks?
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, a "circle jerk" is a slang term for echo chamber, the phenomenon where online, a group of like minded people group together and reiterating and praising their personal beliefs by encouraging and upvoting each other, thereby reinforcing and strengthening their beliefs.
Because I tend to see this type of behaviour on this site, where two polar opposite opinions get voted as normal. A lot of the time, someone will post something racist/homophobic/perverted/sexually immoral/etc. and the comments and/or replies will gravitate towards agreeing with them, regardless of how messed up it is. For example, there are a lot of dog sex stories and they often end up being filled with a bunch of people who share their be stiality experience and upvote others', and also a lot of the time when someone posts a racist story, soon other racists will flood in and the comments section becomes a racist echo chamber. This seems to happen so much that whether or not something is actually normal becomes redundant.
Does anyone else notice this on this site?
