It's offensive because it implies that the thought of being gay is degrading and insulting. It isn't and shouldn't be seen that way.

I completely agree with bananaface. I don't know why some people think gay or fag is an acceptable insult. Not long ago there were people who used the word "nigger" as a casual insult for someone stupid; is that acceptable too?

I highly disapprove of the terms "faggot" and "nigger" because they show an utter amount of ignorance and aren't well-defined in their slang form. People say them like something that can be thrown around frivolously, whilst being insensitive towards their opposer.

Furthermore, these words no longer hold any power towards those who know they're stupid to say. Run-of-the-mill slang terms may never evanesce; it's better to ignore them.

Gay is changing as a meaning its not meant to insult its just changing first it meant happy than homosexual so y can't people accept the fact that its changing to something else it has nothing to do with insulting homosexual people in any case homosexuals changed it and now other people are too and I have heard homosexual people use the words Thad so gay so I don't know y people are making a big deal about the word changing meanings it about time

I grew up when gay meant happy and it will always mean happy to me. I call homosexuals homosexuals. Unless I'm quoting someone.

Gay kind of changed to = Stupid. Not sure how or why, but I definitely hear it in that context the most. Especially when I'm playing video games with my friends. Not the best thing to say when we started playing with my actually gay friend lol
