Do you think the phrase "4 more years!" is hazing?

  • I don't know Joybird. The way she explains it makes it seem unreasonable, but. . .

Usually when adults make a rule, there's usually a pretty good reason for it and teenagers tend to overlook that reason, or are not privy to it. So then, how do we really know what's going on here, when all we have is very young woman's explanation of "playful teasing". There could be some incidents left out, not because she's trying to be deceitful, but because she really doesn't have all the facts.

    • I appreciate what you're saying, though it has also been adults who have pushed this political correctness tooooo far, so that children can't even be scolded or told that the work they submit is rubbish, and they should redo it.

In order to build their self-esteem they are reducing their ability to withstand verbal abuse / teasing / bullying - so that we've ended up with increased suicides and a generation of cry babies in the Western world.

      • Oh, I thought that was all the bad parenting, or the lack of parenting altogether, that was causing that and they poor teachers are just suffering the consequences.

        • You're right - certainly a combination of both! We have parents who come into schools threatening the teacher if little Johnnie has been told off for not doing his homework!

There's definitely an argument here for sterilisation at birth ;o)
