Do you think the beatles were over rated

I’m not hating on the Beatles, they did produce a lot of good music, however I feel like they were always more famous for being the Beatles and not because of the music and because of that are a bit over rated

They were part of the British Invasion. There were a number of bands that came to the states at that time in the 60's

i like the beatles, they’re cool or whatever but i think most musicians are overrated anyway. i don’t think they were overrated back in the day when they were actively producing music. but now when i see young people who only know like two of their songs and they claim they’re huge fans, all i can think of is how much of a cringy hipster they are..

The Beatles were the reason for a lot of 80s and 90s music. They were incredibly influential.

The Beatles changed music forever with their landmark album Sgt. Peppers.

Zeppelin, The Stones and The Beatles.
You have to admit the Beatles have some great songs. Maybe for some they can't listen to them constant and maybe you shouldn't, but there's some songs of theirs that stand the tests of time.
Sorry, this might be unpopular to say to all those rap and hiphop lovers. To all you I have to say that is the best example of no talent.

I used to hate the beatles because of how many times I heard about them growing up, I thought they were pretentious and overrated as hell. I became a huge stoner though and discovered how awesome there music really is, and discovered all the music they wrote that was so great and I hadn't heard on blast 1000 times already. (Like Strawberry Fields, I hate that song just because I hate how many times I've heard it) I don't think their music is overrated anymore, but the band totally. Whenever I go to target I always see hipster beatles shirts for teen girls when I know damn well most of them haven't even heard the white album.

LMAO. There's soooooooo many classic bands where you'll see some young kid wearing their shirt and you know they don't know shit about the band.
Loved your explanation about the white album. Haha. So fuckin' true!!!!!!!!

Cant stand the Beatles. There are many other musicians / bands from that time period that I adore, but the Beatles were never my cup of tea.

The word "Overrated" doesn't really apply with The Beatles. You had to be there (or at least have a decent amount of "musical revolution" knowledge) to understand just how important The Beatles were in terms of not just music, but Pop Culture in general. Album wise, I couldn't think of any other band with not only a more consistent discography, but also a more influential and innovative back catalog.

Being a music fanatic and a musician myself, I can honestly say that The Beatles were a vital ingredient in fulfilling several if not all rock & roll movements throughout the decades. And if they didn't start it, then whoever did, wouldn't have done it without having at least some form of homage to the Beatles. I can go on about this all day, but to make things short, no, they're not overrated. This might sound stupid, but they deserve all the overrated-ness they get. In a good way of course.

You can have an opinion on them, but you can't change the facts. You just either Love'em or Hate'em.

Without the Beatles music wouldn't be the same today. FACT.
      Your statements are true, Tony!
