Yeah, technology is great. Cars, planes, boats (transport in general), computers, robots, medicine... It is making us lazier, but technology itself is awesome and quite interesting.
Atom bombs are great. They allow us not to have to go fight with spears or in trenches. Best invention ever and greatest guarantee of peace too as none of the leaders actually wants to fire first. :-)
I don't mean atom bombs or other weapons of mass destruction. But through them, we have discovered new things. Without nuclear experiments, we wouldn't know as much about atoms, neutrons, protons and so on. Without stealth bombers, we wouldn't have known as much about radar waves and how they are affected by shapes and substances. This has helped improve radar technology and even airplane safety.
And the military has played a great deal in science! Without military funding, many of the things we know and use today, wouldn't even exist! Take the GPS for example... Military tech, developed for military use and spying. Used today everywhere.
I'm not saying war, or a giant military is good. No, a giant military arsenal just eats up money and does nothing. If the US cut their military budget by even 10-20%, the economic crysis would be eliminated! The States and infact the whole world would probably be a better place to live! Wars exist only cause idiots will always find some reason not to like someone. Nowadays, it's all about who gets the military contracts, but that's a different story.
I am saying that for every bad invention, at least one good invention exists!
It's not a dark side. Depends on who controls it.
If it's for research, to push the envelope of development, it's good and useful. But to be used by people, against people, just cause some president/ king/ illuminati/ whatever feels like it... It's stupid.
Do you think that technology has been great?

I agree, but there's also a dark side to technology though. What about atom bombs and mind control for example?
