  • one more thing though. Cigarette smoking and the health care and cost DOES get passed on to everyone whether you or I like it or not.

On the other hand abortions CUT DOWN on the number of people on welfare because welfare babies get aborted.

So if you want to be economically prudent, you should support regulation/outlawing tobacco AND abortion at the same time. No contradiction involved.

    • you assume only welfare mommies are killing their babies

in reality many wealthy women abort because the child isn't "convenient" for their lifestyle and welfare moms keep the kids, especially if they can get more $$$ for them.

but hey if you want a government that dictates to you what you can eat, what you can drink, what you can smoke... do not be surprised when that government continues to pick out things they feel you shouldn't be allowed to do or have.

You personally have issues against smoking so you're not against banning it.
But hey why stop there. Let's ban soda, juice drinks, unprotected sex, alcohol, candy... let's make it all illegal ... because somehow each one can in fact be unhealthy if overdone.

Where should society's "rights" start and personal freedoms end?

And what happens when something YOU like because banned because someone else decides it's dangerous to everyone else?

      • also, it is probably true that some "rich" women have abortions for the sake of convenience. But most abortions are done by unwed very young girls and women. the social benefits of abortion (lower crime rates, lower poverty) have been pretty convincingly shown. the 1973 roe v wade decision falls in nicely with the drastic drop in crime of the 1990's, because all those juvenile delinquents who would have been coming of age then were not born and could not do crimes.

      • i smoked for almost 25 years darling, and was up to 3 packs a day, and even then i wasn't pro-cigarette the way you are.

If you want to keep smoking then please do so. I don't think cigs should be illegal. But I'll tell you this - when the govt taxed cigs till they were 7-8 bucks a pack, that was the motivation I needed to finally quit. probly saved my life too.

Anyway, I love marijuana so i know what ur talking about. Been fired, fined and jailed over the years for my use of it too. Meanwhile you won't go to jail for smoking and you can still buy cigs in every corner store. So that puts things in perspective.

dont let the fact that you think all anti cig people are socialist commies trying to stomp out your freedom cloud your judgement. I believe in freedom like you do. Probably even more so. But separate your politics out from things that are just common sense.

          • MODERATORS, if you are going to remove my comments about iintolovethissite's mother being an idiot for not having an abortion, at LEAST remove his/her comment calling me a "fucking idiot" in the first place. Thank you

        • When did I ever say I was a smoker?

I've had a total of maybe 3 cigarettes my entire life.

I just dislike when people try to tell others how to live.

So for me... if a smoker wants to smoke I say let them. If a smoker wants to quit I'll be supportive. Why? Because I believe you should decide for yourself if smoking a legal product is what you want to do.
