Bad ideas are forgotten, good ideas are given to other people. Only the ideas that help the culture to survive last thru the centuries.
One of the most persuasive ideas of all time is Resurrection. The pharoas of Egypt told the slaves that the pyramids they were building were resurrection machines that would guarantee them a new better life. This lie pushed Egyptian civilization to supreme levels.
Science is slowly passing religion as the superior mindset needed to create a domainant culture.
