  • No, it's not a plague. Plagues spread from host to host, without consent from the host. Religion is the mind of the host forcing itself willingly onto unwilling other types of religious and non-religious minds. The mechanics are different. While bacteria or viruses infect a human, religion is one with the human.

        • Except Darwinian selection applies to the survival of ideas, just like resistance applies to the survival of germs. Consider this. People in a society trade and talk about ideas all the time. Bad ideas are forgotten, good ideas are given to other people. Only the ideas that help the culture to survive last thru the centuries.

One of the most persuasive ideas of all time is Resurrection. The pharoas of Egypt told the slaves that the pyramids they were building were resurrection machines that would guarantee them a new better life. This lie pushed Egyptian civilization to supreme levels.

Science is slowly passing religion as the superior mindset needed to create a domainant culture.
