I disagree. What about Nazi soldiers? They had families, cried when people they loved died, and felt bad for themselves. I'm sure a lot became selfish assholes, but the point is they didn't start out that way. They became that way over time as social cues around them told them that Jews weren't people and so it was okay to torture, starve, and humiliate them.
Do you think people can get used to anything if given enough time?
