Do you think it is ever justified to look through someone stuff?

Do you think it is ever ok to break into someone’s email, account, cell phone, so on? Do you think this is ok? Would you not care if someone did this too you or do you think it makes people paranoid and being so controlling means you are abusive?

    I think that's crazy shit.

    My grandmother used to go through my room. I remember coming home one day, finding my diary open on my bed. When I confronted her, her 'excuse' was "I just want to know what you're thinking. You're not normal"

    Thanks...that's just what a 14yr old needed to hear.

    Surprisingly, that wasn't what led me to find IIN. Hah.

    Only if you are missing and the authorities are looking for clues on how to find your potentially dead body. Or if you are already dead.

    I think most of the time, it's a complete invasion of privacy. People are nosy buggers. There are situations where it's acceptable, such as what howaminotmyself said, about the person being missing.

    For the cases where it is just an invasion of privacy, then that's really just one of the worst things, and I don't think it can be justified. Ugh.

    There is very little that would make me unleash my wrath on someone, but invading my privacy like that is something that definitely would.

    I think it's only okay if it's a matter of life and death.

      Ok well what if it is assuming every child is planning to kill themselves. So you look through the email, phone, accounts and search room. Would you find that justifiable if one kid put evidence they were going to kill themselves online? So everyone goes under the assumption all children are going to do this? Should they do this or wait for evidence? So should we plant a camera in every child's room and watch them when they eat, sleep, breath, urinate? If only for the purpose of "keeping them safe". As a child could choose to kill themselves at any time for any reason.

        I think if a kid is in a bad place invading their privacy is most likely going to make things worse. It breaks trust.

        I think we've got to be reasonable and sensible, and I don't think invading *every* child's privacy because *one* child took their own life is either reasonable or sensible.

        These are not my beliefs by the way. These are beliefs that have been presented in the past by parents, teachers and other authority figures. Since people adults/children started posting everything they feel and do on the internet.

        If my boyfriend acted weird and I get suspicious I would look into his things without feeling guilty.

        I would never do that to friends or family though.

    i wouldn't care as long as who ever does keeps my shit to there self.

    i traded something once for an old Compaq computer and the person that had it had a screen name and password setup on it but i kept on trying and i finally got in but then the hard drive quit working then i was like damn it because i wanted to see what pictures were all on it, oh well that computer is now in the trash.

    It's only considered wrong if you find nothing.

    However if your caught your son taking about gangs, drugs and shit.. "it was OK you intervened"

    Likewise with spouses "If you wife is having an affair, and you found out through facebook"

    the snooping around is nothing compared to cheating.

    However 9/10 if you have a gut feeling about foul play.. you might be on to something.
