Do you think heaven might actually be a miserable place?

I was taught, and I used to believe Heaven is a place of eternal happiness, until I watched this one Twilight Zone Episode, " A nice place to visit ". If you haven't watched it, it's about a criminal who died and believes he's gone to Heaven. He has everything he's ever wanted, but a month later he finds himself bored and on the brink of insanity. He wishes to go to Hell, but his guide informs him that he IS in Hell.

Do you guys think that Heaven might actually be a boring/miserable place if everything is handed to you easily and planned in advance?

    well, you ask the question as if heaven is a real place. i think you mean "if there was a heaven..." hahahhaah

    Heaven is a place that you can have, do, be what ever you want.

    You can smoke weed as much as you want, have sex like Charlie Sheen, with whoever you want, you can change your looks to anything.

    You can do any drugs without any negative affects

    According to the bible, There will be 2 different times of "Heaven" One before the White Throne Judgement, and one, the eternal one, after. We do not know anything of the time after the Judgement, but we know there will be no evil, no sins, no sickness, no death. We have to trust God in what we dont know.
    When He placed Adam in the garden, He gave him a couple of jobs; (tend to the garden, name the animals) So, He didnt have him just sitting around being bored. As a matter of fact, nowhere in the bible does it speak of a man retiring, not to say its wrong, just that all the people, including Moses at age 100+, had something to do, to keep them occupied.
    The time before the Judgement, we know that those in Heaven will be the goverment of Jesus as He sits on the throne, ruling the earth for 1,000 years. I am quite confident that there will be much to be done for all eternity, look at what we do and do not know now, the planets we have not explored, the parts of atoms that we have not beaten. Any scientist will tell you that there is much more that we dont know then what we do. For example, whats to say that in Heaven, over centuries, we wont have spaceships to visit other worlds, see other creations, other animals. If God can make so much varity as there is on Earth now, I am sure that He can keep us occupied for all time.
    Rather than think of what you dont know of Heaven, why not think of how grand it will be with what we do know? No more being ripped off, no more being hurt by others, no more death or old age disablities? Imagine having decades of decades to know your favorite person, or to do your favorite hobby. Imagine how great a writer, artist, singer, or ? you could be, what you could create, if you never grew tired, never got old, never got sick? and, if you got bored with it, start with something else. Anybody who wants the bible verses for what I stated, let me know, would be happy to provide them, didnt fore easier reading. :)

    I don't think a place where God and Jesus are would be miserable or boring - I mean, what are going to do? Play badminton? Ping pong? Go for a walk? After all, we are spirits once we enter Heaven, we're not in our human shell - our body. So, I doubt we'd be planning activities, playdates, and whatnot. And even if it were boring, which is highly unlikely, we have an eternity of happiness. Isn't that enough?<BR><BR>But then again, it's based on your beliefs of religion and what you believe happens in Heaven after death, if you believe there is one... that's just my opinion.

          How very true. I have heard many people say that they dont need religion for morals, but mever can they answer what would keep them from doing what ever they desire to gain what they want? Mostly they are afraid of consequences, but we all know there is evil without consequences.

            yes, but as you see them how their feeling? when they become boring something like this, they are trying to murder them self, all these because they have no perfect faith... etc that if someone kill himself or herself will go to hellfire

              Could not agree with you more. But what to do with people who disregard the spiritual life, and then try to find the fulfillment that we have? If they were not harsh against the spiritual, there would be a chance, but they do not see the misery they are causing themselves, nor are they intrested in the answer. Sad, isnt it? All i know we can do is love them and try to help.

    Eternal life without sin just renders that very life meaningless. If there is no sin then there is no free will, therefore it is impossible to be good or virtuous. How can you be be happy if you have no choice but to be happy?

    I don't believe in Heaven or Hell, but I imagine Heaven would be miserable. Eternal anything, whether it be happiness or torture would get boring after a while.

    That's an interesting episode though, I've never heard of it.

    idk i get confused. i mean when im in church and they talk about it, it confuses me. i've been to millions of churchs and religions, and some says it doesnt exist,some say there is a placae called pregatory, and some say you dont go to either and you resatrt a new life on earth.

      pregatory, as far as I know, is just the Catholic religion (if i am wrong, i look forward to someone telling me). IF it exists (I dont believe so for many reasons) it is only a temporary place (not eternal) and better than the alternative, but not as good as Heaven, where you will end eventually. Any religion based on the Bible, and also Islam, will tell you there is a Heaven so if a pastor is telling you that there is no Heaven, he is not accurately portraying the bible, or Mohammed.
      Other religions, out side of those, I really dont know about, so I wont comment. What you have to realize is that there are many religions, based on many different teachings. I know why I believe the Bible, and would be free to share that :).

        @Vetterman, thanx, but what i dont understand is that pplz are sasying that if u that in tabernacle religion, that that is the right religion and that if ur following it, u wont go to hell. and so it mad me think. if that is true, what about alllt he other types of religions in the foreign countries. what if they're not tabernacle? wht if they havent been exposed to that religion? deos that mean that they're going to hell as well?

          “Tabernacle”, That is largely a Mormon word, you truly are a seeker! That’s a beautiful thing with a great promise from God: You, will find Him when you seek Him with your whole heart. Which it appears you are doing. I’m impressed, very few individuals actually put more than a casual look into spiritual matters, Bravo!
          To answer you, First you have to realize that pastors and teachers have dedicated their lives to a single sect, so their answer will always tend to reflect that sects views., whereas there may be many correct views on different subjects (such as when to baptize). Normally a pastor will profess that they are right, rather than say this is how they do it, although other ways may also be correct.
          With Salvation, however, that can be a tricky subject, because the deeper that one seeks it out, the more can be revealed. What I am about to write, I have never heard taught in a church, however, when I have confronted some very well taught pastors, they could not argue against it.
          It is very important what you believe, and one of the greatest impotencies’ is that you know why you believe it, to ensure you are following the Truth, not what Man wants you to believe, they can be wrong. So, doing your research, as you are and have done, is vitally important. That being said:
          In the bible, there is a book, Jonah. Most people are familiar with the basic of the story and never give it much thought, God tells a guy to go to a distant land (Nineveh) He refuses, God makes a giant fish to sallow him, he repents, the fish spits him out on the beach of Nineveh.
          But, if you look further into it, it answers your question. First off, why did God do it? Well He loved the people of Nineveh, and didn’t want to have to judge them, but they were exceedingly evil. So, he sent the best man for the job to tell them to repent (I can explain that statement, but would be long). The reason for the fish is that they worshiped the god Dagon (sp?). How much better than to have a fish vomit a man out to tell the people to repent, when they worship fish? The people repented, God held off the judgment for centuries. See, God did love the people!

            Here is where pastors stumble and people don’t think: Jonah never preached about Judaism, nor of the Jewish God to the people, we have no record of it at all. The only thing he said was “Hey, you are going to be destroyed!” He ended up in the fish because he knew God was good and would accept their repentance. But, with this being before the birth of Christ, God was dealing with the people through Judaism, so it should be that they were completely unsaveable without conversion. But they were saved!
            It shows that God will reach to people where they are, and IF they want a relationship with Him, He is wanting to have one with them. But, you have to know who HE is, you cannot just make a god who fits into your lifestyle. You do not get to make a god in your image, to fit your own rules . Once you are shown what morals are (and they are written on our hearts, right and wrong is basic in everybody, just most people prefer the wrong and deny the right) you have to be willing to follow after the God who really exists. He is understandable, knowable, and good to all who seek Him. But, He has His rules (morals) and being lesser beings, we have to be willing to accept them.
            Right now, Christianity is the way that God has revealed Himself to mankind. However, those who have never had a Bible, those who turn away because of the falsehoods of man taught about God, IF they are seeking and trying for the truth, they will be brought to the truth, and saved from Hell.

    People talk about heaven being the most wonderful place in the world. But sometimes wonderful things get old and boring, everything will eventually tire humans, be it heaven or hell.
